Kansas City Star, That's What I Are!

We've only been home a few days and already I cannot wait to go back to Kansas City.  A lot of special memories of ours is there, our first house, the girls were born there, friends we have left behind and my brother.

But we made the best of it and did as much as we could while there last weekend!

We visited with Ryan and Juliane at The Fun Run!

Had a home cooked breakfast by Jeremy and the girls!

Had many hours of retail therapy!  Found lots of great deals including the new comforter sets, one for me and Dallas, one for Jeremy and Brandon!

The girls had their first jacuzzi bubble bath!

I finally figured out the washer, or did I?  Seems I may have used way too much soap!

Jeremy and I had facials, his was chocolate and mine was sea-weed!

I aggravated my nieces with fur, Charlie and Fergie, with the camera!

We went to AMC (the best ever!) theater in Olathe.
Jeremy, Madeline and Lainey watched Tangled.

Dallas and I watched Black Swan (rockin twisted movie) in the "Fork and Screen."  For those of you that haven't experienced a theater like this, get on it!  You have a wonderful wait staff that will bring you drinks, appetizers, dinner and desserts all with a push of a button!

Brandon watched The Green Hornet in the "Cinema Suites," which is like the fork and screen only with recliners, yes, I said RECLINERS!

I'll miss ya Bubbas', thanks for the after Christmas-Christmas and the company!  Love ya!

We didn't get around to seeing everyone on the list, but know we missed ya!  Kisses to Alenda, Meaghan, Cameron, Henry, Amanda, Q the Amazing, Ashley, Michelle, Ami and Matt.

Watch out Wheats!  We'll be invading your territory next!

Look out Dorathy!

Whew! Made it to Kansas City with little to no problems.

The kids acted just okay, not bad but no gold metals were won!

The little problem we had was the huge flock of  do do birds that decided to land in the median and take off as the big truck in front of me was driving by, hitting a good number of them and squirting the windshield with blood.  Disgustingly awesome!

After settling in for awhile and catching up a bit, it was time to set off for dinner.

Jeremy made us reservations at his and Brandon's favorite restaurant Fogo De Chao.

Your dinner starts at the salad bar, a salad bar unlike any I have seen before with imported cheeses, artisan breads, gourmet salads, fresh veggies, cured meats and more!

When you are done you flip over a card on your table to green, which means bring on the meat!

They take your dirty plate and give you a clean one and leave 3 side dishes, caramelized bananas, garlic mashed potatoes, and crispy hot polenta, oops, did I forget to mention the pao de queijo (warm cheese bread)?!? Madeline's favorite!

Then the servers bombard your table with a dozen of different meats, filet mignon, rib eye, top and bottom sirloin, beef ribs, lamb, chicken, pork ribs, pork loin, sausage and the Picanha or signature steak, my favorite!

You flip your card back over to red which means, Give me a few minutes to enjoy this and take a break cause I'll be wanting more soon!

Simply amazing dinner, even the kids enjoyed it! Even the part when Brandon spilt his water all over the table and Lainey! Ha ha!

Luckily the restaurant is on the Plaza, which means we had an opportunity to walk it off before the drive back to Jeremy's.

The Plaza is decorated to the fullest from Thanksgiving night till the end of January, a true site to see and one we miss!

We ended the night with the movie Despicable Me and some much needed sleep!

Good to Home in KC, even for a little while!

What A Year It Will Be!!

Very excited about this weekend, we are loading up the truck and heading out to KC!!  We get to spend some family time with the Bubbas, and get to check out the remodeled house.  Hopefully get to check in with some of our friends and see some sites!  (Nelson Adkins!)

As I was thinking about this up coming trip it got me to thinking about everything else happening this year!  So many adventures for so many friends and family of ours!

Of course there is my girls, Lainey continuing in her dreams of becoming a dancer/singer and hopefully starting PRE-SCHOOL!! And turning 4!

Madeline going into the 3rd grade and turning 8, she even mentioned starting karate? Hmm, we will see?!

Courtney will be starting her SENIOR year of high school and Robbie Lee will turn 16 and get his official drivers licence, UNBELIEVABLE!!  So Proud!

Duke and Nae Nae will begin construction of their forever HOME!!  PS don't forget to add a doggie door for your new baby with fur, MOE!!

Jeremy and Brandon WILL continue growing not only in their successful  careers, but also their family!

My cousin James and my girlfriend Lesli will be tying the knot soon, FINALLY making Les-P family! Even though, to me, she already was!

Dallas and I hope to buy and move in our new house!  I keep making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's coming down on that price! We have GOT to get the girls in separate bedrooms before I go insane!  I would also love to get Dallas into another vehicle!

Oh, and Prudence just told me she sees herself with a new friend this year! I told her maybe, but only if we get a HOUSE!

A Time For Peace, I Swear Its Not Too Late....

Disclaimer!!  Political Views Ahead!!

I need to vent, this was one of the reasons I started this blog.  So far though, I have only used it as a way to keep in touch with family and friends that live far away and as a scrapbook.  Understandably, if you wish to skip this post until I'm in a better mood, all is forgiven!  I know that Bob and John would be proud for speaking my mind!

I am a liberal Democrat.

I believe in equal rights for all people, white, black, yellow, purple and green, gay, straight, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or undecided, men and women.

I am for a women's right to choose what is best for her body and life.

I don't think you need a semi-automatic weapon for hunting or home protection.

I loath guns and war and loss of life on both sides.

I am thankful for the men and women that are or have served in the military.

I like Obama care, its not perfect but it is a start.

I voted for Barack Obama.

I feel that it's completely wrong that immigrants are being shot for crossing a border to live and work in the U.S. and attempt to make a better life for them and their family.  Thank goodness no one shot our immigrant great great great grandparents when they came over in a boat or I would not be here writing this and you would not be reading this.

I believe in peace and I TRY to see the good in all people no matter how hard.

I have my beliefs and you have yours.  I would never turn my back on you or be embarrassed by you for disagreeing with me, no matter how many times it has been done to me.  I will not change to please you.

I have a hard time being patient with racist people and views.  While getting my hair done a few months back,  I over heard a conversation about politics, one lady said "Women should never be able to run for President, I only think men should be President, but not a black man."  Really!!  Thanks for setting the women's and civil rights movements back another 20 years!

I will teach my girls to be strong independent women with open minds and big hearts. I will encourage them to be what they want and except them.

I wish no one any ill will or death for their political affiliation, nor would I entice others by putting targets on the opposition.

I hope for our sake as well as our children's and our grandchildren that all political parties can come together and make our country united again, find common ground, at least try!
