Anyone that has driven by Aleshia Drive, has noticed this yard and how beautiful it is! This is Terry Bruce's yard. Every tulip, azalea, blade of grass, butter-fly bush, iris or tree was put there by him. He puts his heart and soul in everything he does here, like painting a yellow brick road for his grand kids with a tin man near by.
But, I would bet that not all of you have driven by his other yard, yet another yard that he takes care of daily that also means a lot to him. Another place that he calls home ever since he was young. A place equip with friends, family and more memories that you could imagine.
He grew up here. He works, visits with family and friends, tends to yet another garden and even finds time to help neighbors with their needs, here.
This home, farm, shed, along with friends and several life times of memories are in danger. The history making flood level of the river has a lot of it under water currently. With the Birds Point levee at max capacity, the Army Corps of Engineers are ready and willing to "operate the plan" or BLOW a 2 mile hole through it to relieve the swollen river flooding 130,000 acres of land.
The 15 foot wall of water that will flood the 130,000 acres of prime farmland and over 200 peoples homes, will, once gone, render most if not all the farm land useless and will, unfortunately, not be covered by their insurance because it was a "man made" flood.
Will the secondary levee hold?
According to "the plan," breaching the levee will relieve cities along the river valleys.
Damned if you do, Damned if you don't?!
My heart hurts for us all...

By that mound used to set my first home. |
East Prairie can be seen from here on a clear day. |
This tree, behind the shed, was hit by lightning and once had a tractor hanging from it from a tornado. |
This tree was hit twice! |
I wonder whose truck that fell out of?! |

Neighbors and Friends, this way and that! |
This field once had the homes that my mom and her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles lived in. |
I love my hard-working daddy, Terry Bruce |
Praying for you all!
